The Ernst Strüngmann Institute (ESI) of the Max Planck Society in Frankfurt am Main specializes in Neuroscience research.
We are looking for a full-time:
Technical Assistant (BTA, MTA, VTA) (m/f/d), or
Research Assistant (Diploma, Bachelor, Master) (m/f/d)
for work with rats
to support the laboratory of Dr. Jean Laurens. Experienced colleagues from the group are available for support and training. Compensation depends on qualification and experience and is in line with TVöD.
The job:
The role of the Technical Assistant (TA; m/f/d) are diverse and can be broadly categorized into training and care of laboratory rats, assistance with scientific work, and general lab organization.
Training and care of animals: The laboratory conducts experimental brain research in the fields of spatial navigation. The TA will work closely with scientists to train rats in navigation tasks, such as locating food in varying complexities of labyrinths. They will also assist veterinarians in veterinary care of animals.
Assistance in scientific work: Scientists benefit from the support of experienced and attentive TAs. This includes performing brain recordings in rats, assisting with data processing, preparing histological specimens, and assisting in surgeries. Depending on inclination and qualification, there is an opportunity for the successful applicant (m/f/d) to actively participate in research beyond the traditional duties of a TA.
General lab organization: Our TAs undertake crucial tasks to ensure the smooth running of daily lab operations. This includes tasks such as placing orders, maintaining order in the lab, and documenting scientific processes.
What you bring:
We are looking for someone with a qualification as a Technical Assistant (m/f/d) in the biomedical field or someone who has gained relevant (practical) experience during their studies. Professional qualification or experience for work with animals is advantageous. Candidates should have good English skills and basic computer skills. Beyond formal qualifications, we are looking for a proactive team player (m/f/d) who performs their tasks responsibly.
What we offer:
