Research statement

I am currently investigating the mechanistic underpinnings of local and long-range rhythmic cortical activity. To this end, I am studying the engagement of different neuronal cell types by high-frequency oscillations (in the beta and gamma frequency range) across the distinct laminar compartments of early (V1) and intermediate (V4) visual cortical areas in the awake behaving macaque. The goal of this research is to put contemporary theories of interareal communication to the test.
